Episode 29: Shrek

shrek.jpg

Join Viewing Party as we watch a film that is a Smash Mouth film incarnate: Shrek! This animated tale that every millennial has memorized leads to conversations on idealized relationships, body image representation, and which John Cusack is better, teen heartthrob or dreamy adult? Also, Katie sings great theme songs and Wesleigh rants about a font!

Episode 23: RocketMan

rocket-man-movie-poster-1997-1020272728.jpg

We wrap up Katie’s month-long birthday celebration with a favorite movie from her childhood: RocketMan, a space comedy HBO describes as a “zany slapstick farce."
In this episode we compare this to its obvious equivilent, The Martian, google math problems and request info from NASA, learn about Katie's newfound magical butt powers and learn that friends don’t leave friends behind - even when they’re chimps. (Sorry for the loud scratchy noises! Our current recording set up is very good at making blankets sound loud and crunchy. We don't get it, either.)

IT'S KATIE'S BIRTHDAY! We're celebrating her birth all month, and today we're watching her most favorite movie, The Fellowship of the Ring. In this episode we call in Katie's cousin Kate — the Frodo to her Samwise — to bask in the the glorious awkwardness of their love for Elijah Wood, discuss what weapons we'd want for a quest, and hear exactly why they couldn't just take the eagles to Mt. Doom.
