Somewhere out there you are listening to this podcast on An American Tail, and now have that adorable song stuck in your head (sorry not sorry). We ventured into our childhoods and watched the Spielberg/Bluth classic, which was much scarier than we remember. In this episode, we discuss the filmmaker's signature animation style, read some dark Pooh Bear fanfic, and hear about a formative teaching moment featuring Pokemon.

Episode 48: Babe

babe_ver1.jpg

Continuing Oscar Loser month, we found one of the most surprising titles nominated for Best Picture: 1995's talking animal flick, Babe. A trip down memory lane reminded us that this movie is a lot better — and darker — than we ever noticed as children. In this episode, Katie shares her theory for the Marvel Cinematic Universe moving forward, discover that Wesleigh knows a lot about Rugrats, and have a conversation about the awfulness of school shootings and our awe of Gen Z's response.

fantasia-poster-1940.jpg

In a special episode for the first of the year, Wesleigh sits down with her Dad and sister, Whitneigh, on Christmas Eve to talk about Fantasia (Her father requested this title after hearing the pilot, so we're bringing him on as a guest!). In this episode you can hear us noisily stirring bourbon slush, Whitneigh shares the scariest episodes of Unsolved Mysteries, Dad posits the theory that everything from I Love Lucy to Dirty Dancing can be traced back to this movie, and Wesleigh teaches her family about Star War's blue milk. Guest-starring Whitneigh's son Marshall!

Episode 17: Anastasia

Join us on a journey to the past as we watch the animated film Anastasia for this week's Viewing Party! We learn that Fox princess movies are much more gruesome than Disney, dive into some theological talk about redemption, and question why Meg Ryan and John Cusack were never in a live action movie together in the 90s. We also learn the true story of the Romanovs from our first call in guest, Robb!

Meet special guest Robb!

History buff and friend of the show Robb is currently producing multiple podcasts of his own, which will be launching soon. You can follow him on Twitter at @RobbThomas and Instagram at @therealrobb.

Episode 11: Brigadoon

Pie on a windowsill, this episode is amazing! For this week's Viewing Party we decided it was time for a musical, and dug up a classic from Wesleigh's childhood, Brigadoon. This sci-fi film masquerading as a Broadway period piece inspired discussions on sensory deprivation tanks, flirt dancing, grandmas, and Doctor Who. And in our favorite bit to date, Katie learns that Wesleigh is not immune to the power of forearms.
